Frequently Asked Questions
Prior to your appointment, you may have some questions relating to dress alterations or keepsakes, therefore I have put together some of my most frequently asked questions to assist you.
How many appointments will I need and when will they be scheduled?
Generally, I advise your first appointment to be 8-12 weeks prior to the wedding. Most brides require 2-3 fittings including the initial appointment.
What should I bring with me?
Always bring along your shoes and any underwear you plan on wearing which may affect the fit of your dress. You are welcome to bring someone with you too!
How much should I budget?
I'll always send over my pricelist as a guide upon initial contact but I can give a better indication of cost after the first consultation.
Prom - when should I book an appointment?
Prom season can be really busy so get in touch as soon as possible after collecting your dress!
How much will it cost?
Most general alterations have a fixed cost detailed in my price list - get in touch and I'll gladly send it over.
Do I need an appointment?
Not always no! I offer a drop and go service - if you need a small repair, or an inch or two taken from the length of some trousers, I'll gladly take them at the door.
How many items will I need?
For memory bears, I can use a single shirt, jumper, nightie etc. depending on the size. For baby memory bears, I'll often use around 6 baby garments.
For my memory blankets (36 patches) I like to use a minimum of 18 items. Flat items such as vests, babygrows and t-shirts work best!
Shirt cushions just require a shirt! Cushion included
Can you embroider sentimental items?
Yes! I add embroidery to the soles of the paws of my bears, pockets or the front of shirts or I add a patch to my blankets.
I always ask for embroidery requests to be written down or sent over via message to ensure I don't make any errors.
What happens to all of the offcuts?
I always hand back all offcuts from sentimental items!
Are the keepsake memory bears suitable for children?
Any product with play value must undergo CE testing to meet safety regulations. An exception applies to keepsake bears and items using customer fabrics, as testing destroys the finished item. To enhance safety, I employ specific processes, such as using iron-on interfacing and safety eyes- noses are also always hand stitched using embroidery thread. Keepsake bears are not intended for children under 14, and are not designed as toys.
